About:

The experiment aims to examine the actual risky online behaviors among information and communication systems’ users. During the experiment participants will receive feedback information on their potentially risky behavior. Based on their own experience and practical examples short education will be implemented in order to increase awareness of the existing risks while using the Internet.

Goal:

Increase awareness among participants about the potential online risks that Internet users frequently encounter.

Target audience:

The experiment is intended for all active users of information and communication systems.

Preliminary program:
  • In the first part of this social experiment, a validated measuring instrument (questionnaire) will be used to simulate the risky behavior of information and communication computer systems' users and to examine their existing level of knowledge and awareness on the aspects of information security and privacy protection.
  • In the second part, the participants will be presented with the results of previous studies in Croatia and the world that focused on information security. Age, gender and educational differences between groups of users on risky online behaviors, level of knowledge and awareness, violation of security protocols, etc. will be presented.
  • In the central part of this experiment, the participants will participate in a discussion based on their own results on risky online behavior and comparing these results with previous studies in Croatia and the world. Furthermore, current examples of social engineering will be presented to participants and they will be encouraged to present their own examples of social engineering from the private and business sectors.
  • In the final part of the social experiment, common conclusions will be drawn and recommendations will be created for users regarding safer behavior on the Internet.
Technical requirements:

All participants should have smartphones, laptops or tablets of their own. Available Internet for all participants, and additional projector with associated laptop for lecturers is needed.

The experiment will be held in English.
