Great success of the educational program "Elements of AI"

In the first two months, more than 15,000 students were enrolled, making Croatia one of the most successful European countries in terms of initial interest in education in the field of artificial intelligence

The educational program "Elements of AI" is now available throughout the Republic of Croatia for all interested citizens. All content is available in Croatian as well. The initiative for this educational program came from the cooperation of the University of Zagreb, the University of Helsinki and the technology company Reaktor, and the training and placement of the educational program was carried out in cooperation with the Croatian Artificial Intelligence Association CroAI.

The "Elements of AI" project was supported by the Rector's Assembly of the Republic of Croatia, and in 2019 this educational program was rated better than educational programs offered by world-renowned universities such as Harvard, Stanford and MIT.

The educational program "Elements of AI" is available at https://www.elementsofai.com/hr to all citizens of the Republic of Croatia.

The project leader is Asst.Prof. Mario Konecki, Ph.D from the Faculty of Organization and Informatics, University of Zagreb, special advisor of the Rector of the University of Zagreb for internet services and coordinator of the Rector's Assembly of the Republic of Croatia for information technologies.

Asst.Prof. Mario Konecki, Ph.D is also the author of the first high school educational program in the field of video game development called "Video Game Development Technician", which was completed and approved by the Ministry of Science and Education in 2019 and which performs at the Technical School Sisak from the school year 2019/2020. The current project that is being actively worked on is the construction of a campus for the video game industry in Novska, where all interested students will be able to enroll in educational programs in the field of video game development, but also entrepreneurship in this domain.

During 2020 professor Konecki also developed an educational program in the field of artificial intelligence for the needs of the city of Lipik, whose representatives launched a project to educate citizens and future entrepreneurs in the field of artificial intelligence. The ultimate goal of the project is to build a Croatian National Center for Artificial Intelligence.

The video game industry, which reached a value of about $ 160 billion in 2020 and is estimated to reach a value of $ 200 billion by 2023, along with the artificial intelligence industry represents a great opportunity for young entrepreneurs. This can lead to further international success and strengthening the economy of the Republic of Croatia.

The initiative of education in the field of video game development and the Elements of AI project was also supported by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia, M.Sc. Andrej Plenković, as well as the Government of the Republic of Croatia.
