About:

Research shows that children and teenagers, but also their teachers and parents worldwide have little knowledge about engineering-related professions, their activities and challenges.
School systems alone can’t solve this problem. An active engagement of parents and STEM professionals is also required.
This workshop will show its participants how to stimulate children’s and teenagers’ interest for ICT. It will inspire participants to work with children and teenagers, encourage their interest in STEM fields, but also show them in what way they can help other STEM motivators. micro:bit will be used as an example technology for motivating and working with children and teenagers.

Expected outcomes:

Workshop participants will learn what can they do with children and teenagers in ICT, they will learn about ways in which they can take part in STEM popularization processes, as well as how to help others who take part in STEM popularization.

Target audience:

Parents, engineers, and all others who would like to share their interest and encourage others’ interest in STEM fields.

Preliminary program:

Workshop will focus on the following questions: Which children can I work with? How to motivate them? What kind of competitions are important for them? What is my role in preparing them for competitions? Which tools and materials do they need? Who can help in preparing them? How can we collaborate with a school or IRIM? What do I need to know to help?

The workshop will be held in English.

Registration / Fees:

This workshop is free of charge.
