Increased digitalization and transformation into a digital society have resulted in increased production of software in every aspect of human life and a variety of different systems. Software is getting more and more complex and interconnected across various application domains. We still lack systematic knowledge on how to engineer these software systems. More precisely the scope of our conference is focused on HOW TO ENGINEER:

  1. Technical aspects of these systems like solutions for automatised operation and management, coping with varieties of software systems across various application domains, their integration, interconnection, and complexity, and how to provide high-capacity, faster, more reliable, and available, and more secure technologies.
  2. Sustainable operation across their lifecycle and thus align with global goals of production of greener technologies. 
  3. Responsible systems terribly needed for the networked society of human beings in everyday life.

Accepted papers will be published in the ISSN registered conference proceedings. Papers in English presented at the conference will be submitted for inclusion in the IEEE Xplore Digital Library.

    Evolution of a Software System Architecture - Explained in a Model Situation 


    The most important decision in the early stage of software development is the design of system architecture. In this talk, we set up a model situation and present such a decision. Then, evolution of the software is simulated. Since in parallel to the evolution of the system and its environment there is also a kind of evolution in the understanding of the underlying domain and problems by the software team, it is obvious that the initial architectural design becomes also a subject of evolution. Kinds and ways of this evolution are the main focus point of this talk. In our model situation, we evolve the system architecture of a web application from a client-server architecture with full single-technology stack to a microfrontends' architecture with distributed heterogenous technology stack. We simulate the evolutionary growth from custom application to software product line. We consider several architectural patterns and (one-way) transformations between them. We discuss the underlying topics to emphasise the importance of a proper architectural envisioning for software projects.
