Title: Distance Learning Using the Gitlab Versioning System

Duration: 20 min.

Abstract: Git is a standard tool for working on collaborative projects in IT. The presentation discusses how to use Gitlab to implement laboratory exercises for Computer Science students at University of Bjelovar. The Tortoise git tool will be presented which makes it easier and more transparent for students to use the git. The second part of the presentation talks about scripts that make it easier for teachers to work and supervise students' work on gitLab. For this purpose, several scripts will be introduced: pulling all students source code to the local machine, checking similarities between students source code, visual representation of differences between suspicious source code and pulling all data from gitlog. Finally, plans for optimization and further development of the system for distance learning using the Gitlab versioning system will be presented.
