On the 1st of March Hrvatski Telekom is the first to start involving commercial users in testing on the 3.5 GHz frequency band, which will enable new possibilities of 5G mobile network with two to three times higher speeds and more possibilities of use in many sectors, numerous innovations, and development of smart industries, modern cities, and society of the future. Testing is currently being carried out to a limited extent on a part of commercial users in Zagreb and soon in Osijek. Gigabit speeds were measured at tests taken few days ago on the 3.5 GHz network of Hrvatski Telekom in Zagreb. Users encompassed in tests will be informed and will not incur any additional costs and will be able to use the benefits of an even faster 5G network. Commercial operation of the 5G network on the 3.5 GHz spectrum will commence after the conclusion of the public spectrum auction for the 700 MHz, 3.5 GHz, and 26 GHz frequency bands, scheduled for the first half of 2021. At the end of 2020, Hrvatski Telekom introduced the first commercial 5G network in Croatia on the dynamic spectrum sharing technology - DSS (Dynamic Spectrum Sharing). It currently covers 17 towns and cities and more than 1.2 million inhabitants. In 2021, we will continue to grow coverage and introduce even higher speeds.
