Artificial Intelligence in Marketing at MIPRO 2019

It is our pleasure to announce an interesting plenary keynote lecture about the future of artificial intelligence in marketing which will be presented by Prof. Luiz Moutinho within the plenary session on Wednesday, 22 May. 

Prof. Moutinho will present the lecture entitled „Artificial Intelligence in Marketing“ in which he encapsulates reflecting on the artificial intelligence as a new normal and its influences to the society as we know it. Its types and forms are then covered, including the technologies and fields it comprises. Going on with his presentation, several things will be discussed - the relationship between AI and human, disruptions and concerns caused by AI in different aspects of human lives and businesses, with emphasizes on its influences in marketing i.e. product personalisation, advertising, social media... Benefits AI brings in handling the constantly growing humongous amount of consumers data are introduced. The latter part of the presentation will deal with the impact of AI in shaping the future of marketing: “how it will work tomorrow”. In the end, expectations will be expressed regarding the ever-greater and better interaction between people and AI and the impact of AI on data-driven marketing.

Luiz Moutinho, Professor of Marketing, is currently a visiting professor at the University of Suffolk, England, and at Universidade Europeia and the Marketing School, Portugal, and adjunct professor at Graduate School of Business, University of the South Pacific, Suva, Fiji. During 2015 – 2017 he held professorship of BioMarketing and Futures Research (first Chair in the world in these two domains - BioMarketing and Futures Research) at DCU Business School, Dublin City University, Ireland. He completed his PhD at the University of Sheffield in 1982 and held posts at the Adam Smith Business School, University of Glasgow, Scotland, Cardiff Business School, University of Wales College of Cardiff, as well as at Cleveland State University, Northern Arizona University and California State University, USA. He was the Full Professor for the past 29 years. In 2017 Luiz Moutinho received a degree of Professor Honoris Causa from the University of Tourism and Management Skopje, Republic of Macedonia.

He has had Visiting Professorship positions at at numerous universities in China, Lithuania, Austria, New Zealand, Denmark, Slovenia, Scotland, England, Portugal, Hungary, Indonesia, Taiwan, Brazil, Colombia, Fiji and Cyprus. Between 1987 and 1989 he was the Director of the Doctoral Programmes at the Confederation of Scottish Business Schools and at the University of Wales College of Cardiff, Cardiff Business School between 1993 and 1996. He was Director of the Doctoral Programme at the University of Glasgow, School of Business and Management between 1996 and 2004. He is the Founding Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Modelling in Management (JM2) and co-editor of the Innovative Marketing Journal.

One of Professor Moutinho’s primary areas of academic research is related to modelling processes of consumer behaviour. He has developed a number of conceptual models over the years in areas such as tourism destination decision-processes, automated banking, supermarket patronage, among other areas. The testing of these research models has been based on the application of many different statistical, computer and mathematical modelling techniques ranging from multidimensional scaling, multinomial logit generalised linear models (GLMs) and linear structural relations to neural networks, ordered probit, tabu search, genetic algorithms, and fuzzy logic. Other current areas of research interest are Neuroscience in Marketing, Algorithmic Self, EMOWEAR-a wearable tech device to detect human emotions, Marketing Futurecast, Futures Research and human-computer interface.
 

Prof. Moutinho has published 34 books and has over 150 refereed international academic journal articles. He has over 11,700 academic citations, the h-index of 50 and the i10-index of 166 (Aug. 2018). Prof. Moutinho is a member of the Editorial Board of 52 international academic journals as well. He has also received a number of awards for excellence in academic research in the USA, UK, China and Portugal.
