  • Future of Robotics – From Challenges to Innovation
    Rainer Bischoff (KUKA Robotics, Augsburg, Germany)

    Short biography: Dr. Rainer Bischoff is Vice President for Corporate Research of KUKA based in Augsburg, Germany. In this position he is responsible for group-wide research and technology development for future robotics products, solutions and services. Dr. Bischoff received his Dr.-Ing. degree from KIT, Karlsruhe, in 2010. Since 2008 he is driving European robotics in leading roles, since 2012 as Vice President Industry of euRobotics aisbl – the European Robotics Association. In this capacity he has been setting the Strategic Research Agenda for European robotics in a public-private partnership with the European Commission and successfully establishing closer links between academia and industry. Dr. Bischoff received three prestigious international awards: IEEE/IFR IERA Award (2006), IEEE RAS Early Career Award (2012) and IROS Toshio Fukuda Young Professional Award (2015).

  • Combining Human and Robotic Motion Control for Medical Devices
    Guillaume Morel (ISIR – Sorbonne University, Paris, France)

    Short biography: Guillaume Morel received the Ph.D. degree in control engineering from University of Paris 6, Paris, France, in 1994.,From 1995 to 1996, he was a Postdoctoral Research Assistant with Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA, USA, and, from 1997 to 2001 he was an Assistant Professor with University of Strasbourg, Strasbourg, France. From 2001 to 2006, he was an Assistant Professor of mechanical engineering with University Pierre and Marie Curie, Paris, where he is currently a Professor of robotics and leads the research team AGATHE (INSERM U1150) within the Institute of Intelligent Systems and Robotics (UMR UPMCCNRS 7222). His research interests include sensor-based control of robots, with a particular focus on force feedback control and visual servoing. His research targets applications to assistance for surgery and rehabilitation systems.
