Social Innovation - a Driver of Industry 5.0
Social innovation is part of the EU's strategy to promote human development through solidarity, cooperation, and cultural diversity. It is a process of developing and implementing effective solutions to challenging social and environmental issues that drive progress. Social innovation requires active cooperation of partners from the for-profit and non-profit sectors. The goal is to meet societal needs in a better way than existing solutions in the areas of working conditions, education, community development or health. This includes socially relevant innovations such as activism, virtual volunteering, distance learning or microcredits. Transformative social innovations introduce new approaches to difficult social problems or encourage reforms and changes in social institutions. Social innovations drive the transformation of government and its cooperation with creative industries. They are influenced by a variety of actors, including "smart companies", research institutions, companies, and individuals, and aim to achieve a sustainable society. An important component of social innovation is social entrepreneurship, which creates a network of entrepreneurial, digital ventures (startups) aimed at developing the infrastructure of smart industries, including socially responsible businesses, and promoting economic and social sustainability.

Facing the Industry 5.0: Production Modeling and Digital Twins
Experts of the leading system integrator in digital transformation will present their experiences in the transformation of manufacturing companies in the Adriatic region. Their experience shows that the path to the most complex technologies always starts with small steps. Agile, strategic moves are crucial, addressing key challenges with digital tools. The savings they bring are a catalyst for further change and increased competitiveness. Find out how 3D models and virtual production modeling pave the way for Industry 5.0, what are the biggest challenges of today's production, and how technologies such as digital twins solve these problems.

Digital and Creative Society in the New Smart Specialization Strategy
The presentations will give a vision of the business sector on the future development of digital and creative society. Some of the key conclusions of the presentation are that the Croatian IT sector must be involved in European digitalisation initiatives ASAP and as strongly as possible. Digital products developed on the company's own IP have the greatest potential in creating added value, exports and growth. There is a real need for the digital transformation of digital and creative industries. The transformation goal in this period of dynamic change has the ability to support the growth of new industrial strategic niches, but at the same time enable faster growth of those that have not yet been discovered.

INUKING - Interoperability of Critical Infrastructure Subsystems in Cloud Environment
Critical infrastructure systems such as heating and cooling, fire and intrusion protection, access control and video surveillance are mostly installed as separate self-contained systems in buildings, so monitoring incident operations become quite complex due to the lack of inter-communication and poor interoperability in general. How to link such systems into a single meaninfull system, aggregate and process seemingly unrelated information, to combine it altogether in a secure way through a modular system, and all that in a cloud environment?

Innovative Solutions for Increased Power System Flexibility
Increased integration of decentralized renewable energy sources (RES) has led to a lack of flexibility resources needed to regulate the electricity system. Solution was found in preparation, development and implementation of SINCRO.GRID project – installation of compensation devices in 3+3 points of Croatian and Slovenian transmission systems. Thanks to Siemens Energy solutions with Variable Shunt Reactors in SS Mraclin (100 MVAr @ 220 kV) and SS Melina (200 MVAr @ 220 kV), and Static VAR Compensator in SS Konjsko (250 MVAr @ 220 kV), more efficient, robust, and resilient transmission system was ensured with better voltage regulation and system flexibility leading to possibility of increased integration of dispersed RES units.

Vehicle and Traffic Simulation with dSPACE Tools
The main products of dSPACE are tools for the development and testing of embedded systems in various industries. This presentation will give an overview of simulation tools and their capabilities. The majority of dSPACE clients come from automotive, aerospace industries, research and education and other industries. As the complexity of automotive systems increases, the requirements for installation control strategies also increase significantly. The introduction of strict standards for combustion gas emissions, various driver assistance systems, hybrid propulsion systems, and more recently, autonomous driving support has introduced a number of parameters that need to be adjusted in order for the steering system to behave stable. The key methodology in the validation and optimization of such control strategies is to conduct simulations (MIL, SIL, HIL). In order to support the development of embedded control strategies, dSPACE has created a number of simulation tools.

Location:

Opatija is the leading seaside resort of the Eastern Adriatic and one of the most famous tourist destinations on the Mediterranean. With its aristocratic architecture and style, Opatija has been attracting artists, kings, politicians, scientists, sportsmen, as well as business people, bankers and managers for more than 170 years.

The tourist offer in Opatija includes a vast number of hotels, excellent restaurants, entertainment venues, art festivals, superb modern and classical music concerts, beaches and swimming pools – this city satisfies all wishes and demands.

Opatija, the Queen of the Adriatic, is also one of the most prominent congress cities in the Mediterranean, particularly important for its ICT conventions, one of which is MIPRO, which has been held in Opatija since 1979, and has attracted more than a thousand participants from over forty countries. These conventions promote Opatija as one of the most desirable technological, business, educational and scientific centers in South-eastern Europe and the European Union in general.
