European Union revised its regulatory framework in electronic communications at the end of 2009, by adopting amendments to 5 directives and 1 regulation. Comprehensive amendments aimed at preparing EU Member States for so called digital age and for the best possible implementation of modern ICT technologies for social and economic development.

The Republic of Croatia is currently at the doorstep of full membership of the EU. Alongside with the implementation of EU regulatory framework in electronic communications of 2002, by adopting a new Electronic Communications Act in 2008 and relevant implementing legislation, Croatia is to face challenges and focus on what regulatory framework in electronic communications it really wants / needs in order to successfully bear all responsibilities of EU membership, as well as needs of its society and economy for modern communications solutions at affordable prices.

Within this workshop, the amendments to the EU regulatory framework 2009 in electronic communications will be presented, together with certain hints on which issues might be of a key importance for Croatia. Also, a comprehensive discussion is expected to be developed among the representatives from the sector Ministry, national regulatory authority and industry, to put some light on various views and solutions for the transposition of the revised EU regulatory framework.
