Future of Technologies and Artificial Intelligence in Marketing

The new workshop at MIPRO 2019

As part of the 42nd International ICT convention MIPRO 2019, several workshops will take place. One of them is the workshop „Future of Technologies and Artificial Intelligence in Marketing“ which will be held and chaired by prof. Luiz Moutinho.

This workshop deals with faster and faster advances in technologies - especially with the developments in the field of artificial intelligence - which bring numerous of changes in global innovation economy and benefits for society, but sometimes may cause new risks. The increasing complexity of technology may present challenges in understanding its impact in people's everyday life and relevant industries, e.g. in marketing. Namely, “normal” has left the marketing arena! The old paradigm - where businesses produced, marketers talked, consumers listened and sales followed - has given way to the economy where customers co-create, marketing strategies involve two-way interactions and customized product offerings move into the marketplace via channels unknown until a few years ago. Innovative fast-developing technologies are among the forces that are constantly transforming as well as significantly and deeply changing the world.

The workshop will explore futures of technologies and research advances with an impact on the lives and welfare of human and organisations, citizens and consumers. It will teach participants several things - to anticipate, adapt and drive creative changes; how participants could provide their consumers the innovative relationship that’s worth their attention and that profit has many different dimensions.

This two half-days workshop (Monday: 15 pm – 18 pm; Tuesday: 9 am – 12 noon) is based on lecture-led sessions with a high level of participation and involvement from the participants’ side. The “Learning by Discovery” and “Problem-Based Learning” approaches will be applied. There will be a strong support and engagement in discovery-led training, where all participants will actively contribute to the learning process.

Luiz Moutinho, Professor of Marketing, is currently a visiting professor at the University of Suffolk, England, and at Universidade Europeia and the Marketing School, Portugal, and adjunct professor at Graduate School of Business, University of the South Pacific, Suva, Fiji.
