MIPRO 2019 - Invited lecture at the DC conference

Professor Maria Lindén will give the invited talk about eHealth within the Distributed Computing in Data Science and Biomedical Engineering Conference at MIPRO 2019.

She has a research background from Biomedical Engineering and holds a PhD from Linköping University in Biomedical Instrumentation Technique (1998) with the title High Resolution Laser Doppler Imaging for Microvascular Blood Flow Measurements.

Maria Lindén a full professor in Health Technology with specialization in biomedical sensor systems at Mälardalen University in Sweden and she leads the research profile Embedded Sensor Systems for Health Plus (ESS-H+), which is consisting of around 30 researchers.  The research profile ESS-H+ consists of a cross-disciplinary research team and is performed in collaboration with companies. Her present research direction focuses on development of sensor systems for monitoring of physiological parameters in home environment. This includes design of the sensor system and reliable acquisition of physiological data, signal processing and decision support of the signals. The sensor systems often are wireless, and aims to monitor vital parameter and movement measurements, including fall detection and fall prevention. Inclusion of the intended end-users (patients as well as care-givers) is important, and starts by identifying real problem to be solved, and continues by providing user-friendly solutions. The purpose of this has been to make the solutions used in real-life settings.

The area is of great societal importance. In a recent report by McKinsey&Co, monitoring by sensor systems over distance has alone been predicted to correspond to possible cost savings of 3 billion Euro yearly in Sweden by 2025.
